This is the best collection of classical guitar masterpieces I've heard put together. Parkening is unmatched as a player and musician.

This delightful program of Spanish classical music is perhaps Christonper Parkening's most favorite recording among his fans worldwide. Most of the influential names among the composers are represented here, including Albeniz, Mudarra, Sor, Ponce, Villa-Lobos, and Tarrega. Every selection is played brilliantly, and Parkening's master's touch and clean phrasing are apparent throughout the CD. Perhaps the best tracks are two works by Albeniz, the "Capricho Arabe" and the always appealing "Recuerdos de la Alhambra", both written by guitarist-composer Tarrega. Anyone interested in Spanish classical music and the classical guitar in particular and its repertoire should check out this CD and listen to one of the world's best musicians interpret the hauntingly beautiful music of Spain.

Words fail me to describe the gift of music that this CD gives me. It's a wonderful listen anytime - at work, at parties, with dates, or anytime I need to be blown away by the passionate, tender, and poetic power of guitar music, and the very best of Spanish classical guitar music at that. Parkening plays on this album as if he had a Latin soul. The actual selection of the pieces is very interesting too. I say this because sometimes other Spanish guitar CD's give in to boring selections mixed in with the great pieces, but all of these pieces on this CD are gorgeous. I LOVE THIS ALBUM and think you will too!

Christopher Parkening has totally mastered the classical guitar and the Spanish style of Classical guitar. His gift for this instrument can only come from God the Master of all! I recommend this CD highly if you love guitar music.

"I was sitting in the sixth row in front of the stage. The concert was simply fantastic. I thought the sound was great and that Benoit David and Oliver Wakeman did a wonderful job in replacing Jon and Rick...."
