About Bif Naked - Superbeautiful Monster
The hard rockin', tough talkin' Bif Naked returns with Superbeautifulmonster, a solid stream of catchy tracks made even better by her super-strong vocals. Opening with the primal "Abandonment", her fourth full-length studio release immediately shows that the classic Bif trademarks of deeply personal lyrics sung to a forceful melody are still very much in place. Bif Naked fans tend to fit into two categories: those who like her pop hits ("Daddy's Getting Married," "Spaceman") and the metalheads who like to see her rawk out. Her current CD contains enough diversity to please pop and R&B audiences, however fans of her harder music will be especially pleased with the guitar-driven rock. The disc's first single, the Sum 41-esque "Let Down" is a whimsical tale of a perpetual family failure, while the contemplative "Everyday" is a story of gratitude destined to be a lighter-in-the-air hit at her live show. The only cover tune on the disc proves to be a great surpise: the Metallica classic "Nothing Else Matters" which Bif handles with grace and strength. Before Gwen Stefani became a household name, before Amy Lee showcased her powerhouse lungs, Bif Naked proved unequivocally that alterna-rock women can tackle tough subjects bravely. She's dealt with everything from rape to abortion to abuse--all set to great, harder-edged music. Superbeautifulmonster proves that she hasn't lost her touch, only gained experience and momentum. --Denise Sheppard

I took a chance on Bif Naked's 2005 album Superbeautifulmonster because a) she's hot and b) I had heard that she rocked pretty hard. Hot as she may be, she rocks about as much as Avril Lavigne. She sounds like a teen pop singer doing "rocker night" on American Idol.
Bif Naked has a great voice and writes pretty infectious pop songs. But that's all an album like Superbeautifulmonster should be sold as - a pop album. All the tattoos and Metallica covers in the world won't change the fact that most of the songs on this album could just as easily have been written for Faith Hill or Gwen Stefani.
Again, if you're looking for a catchy, (mostly) well-written pop album, you could do a lot worse than Superbeautifulmonster. If you're expecting a remotely authentic rock album, you're going to be disappointed. Girlschool, this ain't.

Imagine yourself on a wicked rollercoaster ride as you bite down, grit your teeth and squint your eyes from the air pressure and your hands gripped tightly to the handrail. "Superbeautifulmonster" is definatley a wild and fabulous ride with lots of turns, spins upside-downs and free-falls! "Yeah, You" "Let Down" "I Want" & "Funeral Of A Good Grrl" gives this same affect and the fun is only just beggining. Miss Torbet lets off some steam with heated numbers like the opening track "Abandonment" along with others like "The World Is Over" & "The Question Song" which all deliver gloomy versus paired with deep roaring choruses, Ooooh. This is one of Beth's most powerful records of her entire career, It's very well put together. I'm proud to say that "Superbeautifulmonster" is all i've ever wanted in an energetic, pop-infused, Rock'n'Roll album and it's all done by one of my favorite artist. The vocals are gritty and the overall production is mind blowing. If you're a fan of or listen to any one of the three ladies I mentioned in my review's headline you'll be more than happy to order your copy of "Superbeautifulmonster" immediatley. Although I've compared this album to other pop/rock or hardrock greats it's simply just giving you a fine idea of what Bif is dishin'. Bif Naked is still one of a kind and completely stands on her own two high heels. She has her own distinct writing abilites, attitude and style with her vintage jet-black Bettie paige cut bangs. Bif Naked is the epitome of true girl-rock at it's best. Isn't the album title everything?!

I'm a sucker for female vocalists, so my review is already biased by that. This CD has beautiful lyrics and is solid all the way through. The rendition of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" is unbelievable. I recommend this for those who love a tough punk chick that can really rock.

Anyone who has ever purchased a Bif Naked CD and liked it would do well to make sure they have this one in their collection, as well.
This CD is filled with music that is just as honest as anything she's put out so far. She pulls no punches. Whether it complaining about an ex, lamenting her childhood, celebrating the ordinary, or extolling the joys of a healthy indulgeance in the physical act of love, she lets it all out.
My favorite songs on this CD are Everyday, Funeral of a Good Grrl, and Yeah You. I think Everyday is the most soulful song on this CD. This is one of those CDs that I don't just like a few songs, I like pretty much all of them.

This gorgeous woman has incredible talent! However, I do wish her audio engineers would back way off on her mix-down compression so she and her band had some audiophile quality, recorded dynamic range! She sings deep from the heart and her soul and is reminiscent of an early Pat Benita! If I was twenty years younger I would fly to Vancouver and ask her to marry me! Hell, I'd even get a tattoo honoring her at the wedding ceremony, Bif willing! ;)
Sing only from your heart,
A.K.A. William Greywolf
